I’m an experienced author of fiction and non-fiction, and have written scripts for TV and video games. I grew up in East Anglia, where I learnt two things of importance to my future writing career: how to milk goats and how to find the local library.
After working as a researcher for the British Shadow Agriculture Minister, I began my publishing career at Virgin Publishing, editing tie-ins for properties ranging from Doctor Who to Sonic the Hedgehog. From there I moved to Leeds to work on Emmerdale, eventually becoming its story editor. Since then I’ve been associate producer on Wild at Heart, script editor for Chinese soap opera Joy Luck Street, and a script writer for the notoriously vulgar Is Harry On the Boat?. I’m also a writer on hit app Zombies, Run!.
I’ve written over a dozen books in genres ranging from kids’ non-fiction to adult horror and have authored a beginner’s guide to poker, two supernatural thrillers and – with Magnus Anderson – a history of the British video game industry. My epic fantasy series The Hollow Gods launched in July 2014 with Smiler’s Fair and will continue in July 2015 with The Hunter’s Kind.
